Review Holy Hell this book dealt with harsh, but realistic subject matter. My heart has freakin beenripped out, set on fire, stomped on to get the flames out, before finally shoving it back in my chest stitched up. This may seem a bit dramatic, but I assure you, everyone who reads this story will feel the same way. It's not for the faint of heart, that's for sure. Deanndra Hall writes a well done, gut-wrenching, and realistic storyline. She didn't hide an ugly truth whichplagues our society today, but instead brought it to light with class, not glorifying it at all. Ugly Cry Guaranteed By MAustin One Poor choice by Deanndra Hall is a 5 star read.Ugly cry,Mind F#ckThe beautiful girl he was admiring walked across the kitchen toward him; no, scratch that. She glided across the kitchen. He’d never seen anything so graceful in his life.I was emotionally exhausted after this read with very heavy subject matter.This is Bernadette (Bernie) and Jared’s story.Jared is an employee at Citadel. He is moving forward from a tragic past and wants a promotion in his job. He isn't seeing anyone at the moment and isn't looking for anything serious, that is until he met Bernie.Bernie, Kyle’s sister-in-law has moved in with him and his wife.She needs to find a job, but she has no skills, and no street smarts because everything had always been taken care of for her. Bernie is sexy and quite innocent and she ends up making a bad decision regarding work.Her life and her relationship with Jared go down the drain and she disappears after being deported.The thought of what they’d done to her, what she’d probably gone through in her final hours, melted his mind and robbed him of logic and reason.This is a great well written read from Deanndra Hall that shows the darker side of trafficking and will cause the ugly cry a few times. It does end in a cliffhanger and will leave you anxious for book 3. This is a must read series, Book 1 is “One Simple Mistake” another 5 star read.ARC Provided by Drues random chatter. Bernie appreciated everything he did for her, but she couldn't get rid of the guilt of not getting a job to pay him back. Her desperation lands her job in the wrong place, and when Jared finds out, her new life comes crashing down. Now she's alone, broke, and deported. That first poor choice sets in motion a series of events which ends with her disappearing into a situation which true nightmares are made of. Jared and Bernie start as a fresh, new love between two people who have been hurt. They are sweet and are packing lots of heat! The road to happily ever after is never smooth and easy, but boy is this an emotional journey. My heart breaks for Jared and Bernie, as they experience the highs and the oh so very lows. It's easy to judge when you are safe and comfortable, food on the table and money in the bank. When you are the person feeling lost, hungery, a burden without any options, it's different. It's a slippery slope and can seem like there isn't a way back up.Deanndra takes on a dark, taboo subject honestly and openly. There isn't a polish and shine to make it glamerous or flashy. There's no glossing over the harsh realities facing people in that situation. There are gut churning moments that make you pause and give thanks that you have someone to love, a place to live, a safe place to sleep. On the flip side, there are parts where your heart will melt. The honesty, forgiveness and the open love between these friends reminds you that everyone has a backstory as well as a future.Thank you Deanndra, for being brave and publishing this. I'm already a fan, but now I have a new level of respect and love for your writing. I can't wait for Book 3!!
