(Fran Brennan Cookbooks 365 2015-03-05)"I felt very lucky to have a book on the coffee table where I knew I could find inspiration... New England Farmgirl: Recipes and Stories From a Farmer’s Daughter by Jessica Robinson is the ideal reference for all the comfort foods you want year round." (Jillian Bebell From Away 2015-03-30)"After diving into the recipes in Jessica Robinson’s new book, I’ve officially become a wannabe farmgirl." (Grace Elkus Cookling Light 2015-04-21)The recipes in New England Farmgirl are original and creative. Most importantly, they are easy to make. Plus, the tantalizing photographs will completely make your mouth water. (The Washington Book Review 2015-04-23)"Wonderfarmer Jessica Robinson seemingly absorbed the agricultural and culinary traditions of New England and upgraded them in this flawless collection of country-style recipes, gardening and entertaining tips, and fantastic photographs of the region’s best farm stands, sugar shacks, and wineries. No doubt, if she put an apron on backward, she could fly." (Matt Sutherland Forward Reviews 2015-05-27)"She [Jessica Robinson] encourages families to grow their own gardens, spend more time outdoors, and go back to their roots by becoming self-sufficient." (Kara Rota QuickAndDirtyTips.com 2015-05-03)"Many of the recipes are approachable and easy, of a younger generation than one typically finds in New England cookbooks which can be overly puritan and laden with cranberries, winter squash and rhubarb. This targets the taco-generation with a more youthful approach." (Matt Mattus Growing with Plants 2015-09-03)“Jessica is straightforward and completely authentic. She is informed by generations full of rich family history that provide her with solid roots for developing her own new takes on tradition, which she does with warmth and enthusiasm.” (Tracey Ryder Edible Communities 2015-02-01)"Robinson’s culinary ode to New England has something delicious for everyone." (Eleanor Duke Edible Rhody 2015-06-01)

By Scott First of in the interest of full disclosure, Jessica Robinson (the author) is my beloved wife of 13 years andbest friend for 20 years. I did purchase my own copy of this book from Amazon, the first copy sold infact!I can tell you first hand there is a lot of thought, hard work and love that went into the creation of thisbook and (in my opinion at least) it shines through in every section.Reading this book has been like a walk down memory lane for me. Even for the stories that where before Jessie and I met I can recallvividly the first time I ever heard these stories be it at birthday parties, Christmas or other family gatheringswhere her family shared their treasured tales from years past.I can also tell you first hand every recipe Jessie has is simply amazing, I believe this is a result of the love and passion she put's into everything she does. This is not just my personal opinion either. Whether it’s a family gatherings, potluck dinner for my work, neighborhood block party or simply an impromptu dinner with friends the question I hear most is “what is Jessie going to make?”- I have yet to ever meet anyone disappointed in her offerings. In this book she is going to share some of her countless recipes and guarded family secrets with you aswell as some of her experiences growing up on her family’s farm in New England. I hope you will enjoyreading this book and making some of Jessie’s timely wholesome classics as much as I have enjoyedsharing all these treasured experience with my amazing wife for the past 20 years.Thank You,Scott Robinson

For the full review (including recipe impressions), visit this page: http://simmerandboil.cookinglight.com/2015/04/21/cookbook-corner-new-england-farmgirl-by-jessica-robinson/After diving into the recipes in Jessica Robinson’s new book, I’ve officially become a wannabe farmgirl. In “New England Farmgirl: Recipes & Stories From a Farmer’s Daughter,” Robinson makes it sound (and look) idyllic—canning tomato sauce and harvesting fresh corn; tapping maple trees during sugaring season; watching fireflies from grandpa’s screened-in porch. And while I can’t very well re-create my suburban childhood, I can—thanks to Robinson’s rustic recipes—travel via kitchen to picturesque New England. The recipes, which range from savory soups to maple-nut fudge, are organized into ten charming chapters, all of which are prefaced with a list of local farms. Chapter themes include “A Fruitful Harvest” (orchards and farm stands) and “Tapping the Source” (a quick summary of sugaring), among others. And while not all of the recipes are “light,” per se, they celebrate freshly picked produce and simple ingredients, and remind us of the joy of old-fashioned cooking. In the midst of diet-driven and trend-based cookbooks, Robinson’s “Farmgirl” is immensely refreshing. By combining nostalgic family recipes with a local, seasonal approach, she has created a reliable, hands-on book that will be on regular kitchen rotation.

By rachael This book is full of brilliant images, wonderful stories about local creameries, shops, bakeries, and of course heavenly recipes! Each recipe ties back to an experience, a person, or an event that the author was inspired by, all in her life growing up on the family farm. After reading through this book, you find yourself appreciating the local food movement more, and understanding the importance of eating and buying local and the immense positive impact that it has on our communities.
