We're excited to try the gluten free cake for our gluten challenged friends and family. How great to have award winning recipes in one cookbook. Someone else has done the hard work of developing a great recipe and another person has done the hard work of putting it together. What a deal!

By Meanwhile, Melinda I have been baking for decades, so just like a musician can look at sheet music and know that a song will be good ...or not, I can do the same with recipes. There is a balance to cake baking that repeats itself for different types of cakes, such as: angels food, chiffon, coffee cake, bundt cake, basic layer cake, rich layer cake, etc. The same is true of frosting, icing, glaze, topping and fruit spread. How much flour, butter/oil, eggs, liquid, leavening (baking powder & soda), etc.Fortunately, this recipe book has those proportions correct, so each recipe in the book will result in something more than just edible - many are truly award winning.The downside is that there are a some few that are simply tasteless. A number of different configurations of white cake / coconut / cream cheese / pecan recipes. If you are a big fan of coconut, you are in luck, otherwise, it is a fairly bland flavor combination. Also, with some of the vanilla buttercream frosting, even when you add cream cheese and vanilla extract, you are looking at a bland, whipped coating for your masterpiece cake. That is just a crime.Try a few Tbs of lemon or orange juice, or a flavored liqueur like Grand Marnier to add a hint of flavor that changes that huge bowl of white frosting from Blah! to Spectacular! You will be amazed at how relieved you feel, after all the hard work done to make this one dessert, it will now be a raving success.Just my 2¢ If you don't have a high end cake book, Buy This Now...
