Ferrero When I was placed on a low-sodium diet in March 2014 I didn't have very many resources so I immediately turned to searching the web for recommendations and looked to Amazon for cookbooks. The first truly helpful website I found was Dick Logue's and I purchased one of his cookbooks. It is great and I use it a lot but the amount of time involved is often overwhelming when I have three kids at home and everything that entails. I purchased a second cookbook that I had high hopes for but have found it only has one recipe that I use. Eventually I found Christy Ellingsworth's website and absolutely loved it. When this cookbook was released it immediately went on my wishlist and I received it for my birthday last month. From the moment I opened it and thumbed through the recipes I was hooked. It has become my go-to cookbook. The recipes are easy, with no really exotic components that are difficult to find in rural western Oklahoma. The recipes quite varied, come together fast, and best of all they are delicious. There has not been a single recipe that I have prepared that I didn't enjoy (and all three of my kids love the Cajun Dirty Rice, even the crazily picky one). Christy's recipes are the most flavorful low-sodium dishes I have tried from any cookbook or website. For anyone starting on a low-sodium diet I recommend making this your first cookbook purchase, you would be hard pressed not to find several recipes you like. You should also look up her recipe website, she really does a great job of making low-sodium living practical and flavorful.As a side note, I've read a lot of cookbook reviews on Amazon. Somebody will inevitably be unhappy that this book does not contain pictures of the dishes. I really don't care about the lack of photos. I don't like my cookbooks to waste space putting photos of the food inside, use that space for more recipes. The main print inside this cookbook is black but there is a brief comment about each recipe that is in a lime green ink. I like the green, but some people could find it difficult to read. Anyone who considers either of these to be a deal-breaker is really missing out on a great cookbook.
