In Book Three of The Acolyte, Lady Létice Saint- Juste has escaped the Seraglio of Topkapi Palace, the harem of the Ottoman Empire. She has returned to a world that now seems as alien to her as the one she left behind. Létice has come home, only to find she has no home to return to. She is lost in the elegant salons of Paris and London, where malicious gossip behind lace fans has now branded her the infamous 'Whore of Barbary'. The long wars with Napoleon have ended, and Létice abandons the Old World to start over in the raw, freewheeling land of America, and its capital of sudden, glittering wealth; New York. She is determined to build a new life, to achieve 'respectability', and to crush the passion inside her that has brought her nothing but grief. But her well-laid plans didn't count on Jack McClain. She is overwhelmed by this primal force in an elegant cutaway coat. He's unlike any man she has ever encountered before; powerful, playful, and insolent; contemptuous of society's genteel rules. A man who has built his own world out of the force of his own indomitable will. At first sight, Létice Saint-Juste is what he must have, on his own terms. Jack is a gamesman of unmatched skill and, as the contest unfolds, this Acolyte will finally find the tender Master who will compel her, over his knee if necessary, to unleash the need inside her. Publisher's Note: This book is an erotic novel that contains graphic sexuality, including multiple partners, anal play, and elements of dominance and submission. If such material offends you, please do not purchase.

What a journey that Lady Létice de Saint-Juste has traveled. She barely escaped with her life from the Sultan’s Harem and made it to Europe after at least 18 months in captivity. Her reputation has preceded her and she is dubbed the Whore of Barbary and while they are fascinated with her, she is snubbed from France to England. A trip to America brings her no different treatment, there are only two kinds of women, those who are ladies, and those who are not, and society deems she is not a lady. There seems to be no refuge for a woman like her. She attends a final social party to see the new home of John McClain in New York before she is to return to Europe and meets Jack McClain. He could care less what society says, he wants her, all of her and refuses to take no for an answer. The chemistry with Jack and Létice is erotic and powerful. They are like a euphoric drug to each other. The dialog is raw, edgy and emotional swirling with pain, redemption and acceptance. This has been an amazing journey of Létice’s life, so many emotions, but in the end, she found the yin to her yang.

It is not a stand alone book. Letice has been rescued and returned to France. But, she has missed a lot since she has been gone.Letice tries to make a new life for herself in Paris, but everyone knows where she had spent the last 2 years and considers her a fallen woman. When she moves to London, the same thing happens to her. So she goes to visit family in America. While there, she meets Jack McClain. He is not a man to say no to. Letice finally finds her match and her HEA.I liked this conclusion to the series. I do wish that it could have been longer. I would love to read another book about Jack and Letice. I give this 5 stars.

The h had resigned herself to remaining single because of having been forced into a harem. She found her own true love, but would she overcome her long held beliefs and live hea? There was some spanking.
