Tofu, spam, buffalo, goose, tuna , even vegetarian jerky-- you'll find it all here. But if you only want some new marinades for beef jerky, look elsewhere. There are only 2 beef jerky recipes here. Yes, I know you can substitute beef for some of these exotic meat choices, but you never know how the flavors will blend with beef.I'm not saying the recipes aren't good because I haven't tried any of them. I'm just saying if you only want to make a few different beef jerkys there are better books out there for you. I'm off to look for another book.

By Todd Senecal Before reading this book I was really only familiar with beef and venison jerky, but the author tells you other things you can use. Such as goose, turkey, chicken, even spam to make jerky. The author even offers a vegetarian jerky for those who don't eat meat. The writer tells you why to make jerky and believe or not it's not just to preserve the meat. Even tells you all the equipment you need, which I couldn't believe it was so minimal.I specially liked all the different recipes that he offered and once I go buy a dehydrator I see myself preparing some of the recipes.Would recommend this book to any jerky lover out there!

You're wrong. Not only can you use poultry, vegetables, fish but also tofu, Jack Daniels and many other things. All of these recipes are incredible easy to make. Like the author says the only things we need are minimal equipment and mainly ourselves taking action. It's totally worth it to put in small effort and receive that much delicious meals. At the moment I'm testing a few of these recipes and they're all mouthwatering. Wish me luck with the piquant pickle jerky recipe. Whaaaat?

I know some authors market their books without the benefit of a professional editor or proofreader, however, have someone with the knowledge of grammar and spelling proof your work. I am sure these recipe are yummy, however, there were mistakes that could effect the outcome of the recipes. Also, pictures of at least some of the dishes would have been nice! From the Preface. "Of making many (cook) books there is no end." —Ecclesiastes xii:12. In imposing another contribution of a culinary nature on a long-suffering public, I offer a word of justification, if not of apology. The gleanings of a good many pleasant years are embodied in the following pages. The publication of "High Living" and the kind reception accorded to it bore in upon me the need of presenting to the American housewife a few dishes borrowed from foreign countries and possessing the merit of being cheap and easy to prepare. In making my selection from a large stock of material at hand, I have chosen, in many cases, those recipes which will help to keep down the cost of living. For example, I have rejected the national cake of Russia, served at Easter, which calls for 1000 or more eggs, in favor of the humble confection which contains no eggs at all. In our cosmopolitan San Francisco we have singular opportunities of varying the monotony of our menus, and, in epitomizing this collection, I have been struck with the divergencies in preparations which contain the same ingredients. It is no less remarkable that in cookery as in folklore striking resemblances can be found in races remote from each other in space, origin and language. The recipes are arranged as far as practicable for six people and are intended for those who understand the rudiments of cooking. I have included in these pages original contributions of certain resourceful housekeepers of our own State which ordinarily would not have appeared in print.

Novice cooks can use this to make delicious food they might not attempt on their own. More experienced chefs can probably pick up a few recipes they aren't familiar with from Bobbi-Jo. There are also helpful tips throughout the book as well as Bobbi-Jo's classic family experiences which helped shape her love for cooking.If you're looking for authentic Puerto Rican or Italian recipes that ANYONE can follow, this cook book is the one!

Denninger I bought this comprehensive and beautifully designed set of 2 books as a Christmas present for my husband who is a structural engineer. He absolutely loves it! The photographs of the different buildings are amazing and all descriptions are written in English, German and French. The books also include architectural drawings. Outstanding!

For anyone tied to the field, this is a much needed and warmly welcomed addition to one's library. Unlike many counterparts who choose/selected the expected 'greatest hits' in such an offering, Jodidio surprises his reader answering the all important question, "Tell me something I don't know."I always am on the outlook for offerings by this author. Truly a welcomed addition to my evolving collection of illustrated resources on a field I not only admire and appreciate, but also is a major element of my professional livelihood.

This arrived today and volume 2 of the set became my all-time fave due to the excellent up-to-the-minute inclusions. they are all here. zaha hadid, tadao ando, etc. nice,glossy finish,tons of modern photos,and the set feels like it was made of concrete, it is so haeavy and chock full of goodness. highly, highly recommend it if you love modern design, tadao ando styled concrete homes with cool art and furniture. buy with no fear.
