This story has a unique storyline that really intrigued me. The heroine, Janette or Jan, was born in the U.S. and lived with her mother until a tragic accident left her being taken out if the states to live with her father and his new family. While there, she endured emotional abuse and basically abandonment by her new family. Other than taking care of her basic needs, she was not allowed to be involved with the rest of her family. Now that she's grown up, she's decided that she wants to find where her mother's at. Working at a local resort, she had met Stephan and even though he'd tried repeatedly to get her to go out with him, she always politely declined. Even though she is in control of her life while at work, she's very shy and timid when it comes to her personal life. Knowing that she needs a friendly face and a place to gather her courage to finally find out what happened to her mother, when Stephan makes one last attempt with her by asking her to come to the states and stay the week with him and his sisters family at their beach house, she accepts. They've always been attracted to one another but she's never let it show before now and as her past gets slowly revealed, and she finds out her mother is alive but has a limited time to see her, they continue to grow closer. Jan is trying to find herself as well as figure out if she has the strength to go after the man she thought was just a rich, arrogant playboy but is learning that he's so much more. Stephan starts to learn about the true Jan, not the very professional girl who caught his attention at the resort, but the shy, timid, and insecure person that she really is. The more he learns, the harder he falls. Will she gain the strength needed to allow herself to be happy with him? Read this beautifully designed story to find out all their secrets and if they will get their HEA. This story is captivating, sensual, at times heartbreaking, but definitely one that you won't want to miss.This is the first bookthat I have read by Holley Trent but can guarantee that it won't be the last. I love her writing style, the way she masters her story and her characters, and delivers a truly fantastic love story. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Complex characters By Sheila Gallagher Stephen has been pursuing Janette for a year. She has now come to his home for a vacation. He's not sure why she finally capitulated but knows that she is there for more than him. He wants to help her but Janette is not very open. But then Stephen is not either as he has to make a life-altering decision.These are complex characters who hold a lot inside. They do not easily trust or share. While the secondary characters are there to move the story along, I liked that the focus is on Stephen and Janette, their pasts, presents, and futures. I liked also that neither was willing to let someone else make their decisions but that with a lot of soul searching both were able to come to a level of trust to ask the other to support them in their decisions.The story starts slowly but as I got more into Stephen and Janette's stories I became involved in what their final decisions would be. I enjoyed this story and would like to know what happens to them in the future.

Loved it By Linda M. *I received an ARC from Kensington Books in exchange for an honest review*Stephen is the perfect man for Jan, patient and kind, sexy and dominant. She just has to work out a lot of things from her past to be ready for him. I have to admit, I have a crush on Stephen myself. He is everything I love in a book hero and it's impossible not to feel for Jan and the sad way she was raised. It was a long wait for those hot romantic scenes but so worth it. I have only read two books by Holley Trent, including this one, but I love the quality of her writing and the stories she tells. I can't wait to read Megan and Seth's story.
